It has been a very quick month and a half since I won Mrs. West Virginia International! Things seem to be moving right along in my prep for nationals, but these first few weeks as being a state titleholder are now behind me and the shock has worn off. Well, not completely :D . The only routine I have had since winning has been my prep for nationals. That has been my main focus since winning in May, other than my community involvement. But you might be wondering what I will do after I get home......
It is a misconception that a state titleholder has one job, going to nationals and representing the state they come from in hopes of bringing home the national title. For some systems, this may be the case, but for International it goes much deeper than that. As state/regional titleholders, we work with organizations, are involved with our community, and spend our reign trying to make a difference with causes that are dear to us. This is the main reason I decided to compete for Mrs. WV Intl in the first place. Yes, nationals for me falls 8 weeks after I was crowned, but my reign is FAR from over.
I plan to go to nationals, represent WV to the best of my ability and bring home yet another title that I have dreamed about. With 56 very talented and passionate women competing, this will be no easy task and I know that any of these women would represent the title well. We all have a common goal, a purpose, a platform to make a difference. Regardless of whether we leave on top, or the alternative, we leave still as titleholders, representatives, and champions for our causes. We leave as women who are better for the things we have done, will do in the future, and we leave setting an example of what married women can accomplish.
It is an honor to be my states representative, I hope I make you all proud, but more importantly I hope I have made a difference!
